H. Jeanne Legan grew up in Southern California and had many opportunities to see and learn about art.  Her mother painted watercolor and oil paintings and encouraged her as well to draw and paint.  In high school, she studied art and also attended classes at the Art Center College of Design.  While attending college, she worked in two galleries.

In the 1980’s she moved to the Monterey peninsula which changed everything!  Inspired by the beautiful scenery, she spent time exploring the area on nature hikes and took up photography.    She also took drawing and painting classes at Monterey Peninsula College and for years would spend her Saturday mornings at local beaches and parks, painting oil paintings with her instructor "Bennett Bradbury", a well-known marine and landscape artist.  She later began selling her works at craft shows and galleries.  Her landscape paintings have been exhibited and sold internationally.  She is still actively painting and taking outdoor classes further improving her skills and artistry with pastel, watercolor and acrylic mediums.
